About the Author:
William W. Sannwald is assistant to the City Manager for Library Design and Development is San Diego. Director of the San Diego Public Library from 1979 to 1997, he has been involved in the construction of more than 40 library buildings either as consultant or owner's representative. Sannwald is a prolific writer on the subjects of library architecture and management and received the highest honor from the San Diego chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Irving Gill Award, for his contributions to library architecture.
