About this Item

Paper portfolio with mounted color plate on cover, 10" x 12"; 28 p. booklet with 28 b/w ill. + 24 plates (22 color), 10" x 12" each, with 136 ill. (103 color), loose as issued. All of the plates and 21 of the 28 illustrations in the text "are results of exercises at the Young People's Courses of the Kunst-gewerbeschule in Vienna". The original German language edition was published in 1925. An advertisement on the rear cover of the booklet for the third edition of Gluck's Picture Gallery of the Vienna Museum (published in 1931), provides our suggested date of 1931 for this English language edition of Cizek's landmark study, with stunning plates from work by his students (ages 8-15) at the Kunst-gewerbeschule in Vienna. The text includes Cizek's comments on each the plates, p. 11-26. Portfolio cover chipped and detached; one blank inner flap detached but present. Plates excellent. Bookseller Inventory # 002383
