Early edition of A Child s Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson in great condition. 1888 Third Edition (stated); Longman s, Green and Co., London. The book opens with 41 miscellaneous poems, followed by 9 The Child Alone poems, then 8 Garden Days poems, and ends with 6 Envoys poems. This collection of poems first appeared in 1885 under the title "Penny Whistles." Condition: Clean front cover, light soiling on back cover, a little heavier soiling on spine. Bright gilt design on front cover; slightly dulled on spine. Bumped corners. Light fraying to top/bottom edges of spine. The text pages are in excellent condition white with no writing, tears or stains and only the occasional (very) light foxing. Name written in pen on front end paper. Almost the entirety of the 1st and last end papers are lightly tanned (the perimeter of the pages are white, the center of the pages are lightly tanned). Tight binding. No splits. No loose pages.
