Description:

The Chili Line and Santa Fe The City Different (3rd Edition) by Richard Dorman and Bob Hayden. This Third Edition of the Chili Line includes 16 new pages, featuring photos and information that have come to light since the book was first published in 1996. One of the D&RGW's most beloved branches, the 100-mile-plus Santa Fe Branch connected the New Mexico capital to the Rio Grande's San Juan Extension at Antonito, Colorado, from 1881 until 1941. The book also includes more than 50 pages of historic photos and maps of the D&RGW line from Antonito to Chama, New Mexico. That 64-mile line survives, and now operates as the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. Contents: Ch. 1: Santa Fe The City Different, pp. 6-21; Ch. 2: A New Beginning-Iron Rails to the City, pp. 22-63; Ch. 3: Heading North to Antonito, pp. 64-72; Ch. 4: Espanola in the Tewa Basin, pp. 73-98; Ch. 5: Embudo, pp. 99-122; Ch. 6: Tres Piedras, pp. 123-133; Ch. 7: Antonito, pp. 134-154; Ch. 8: Antonito to Chama, pp. 155-176; Ch. 9: Cumbres, pp. 177-198; Ch. 10: Chama: A Busy Division Point, pp. 199-215; Ch. 11: Addendum, Another Trip North on the Chili Line, pp. 216-231. RD Publications, hardcover with jacket, 232 pages, 11 x 8.5 x .75 in., Black & White photographs plus 11 color pages of photographs, map and paintings by Ted Rose, Jan Rons and John Coker.
