The hinges are rubbed but mostly sound. There's a little splitting to the front hinge on Volume II near the headcap. Moderate wear and rubbing to the bindings. A sound set with secure inner hinges. The text is a bit toned, and some of the plates have foxing. Contains 166 engraved plates (83 per volume), including the engraved title pages, half titles, and THREE FOLDING MAPS. The maps are highlighted in color. An attractive sturdy set. No date; circa 1840s-1850s.
