About this title

A series of up-to-date and easy-to-use guides to the best in children's literature. Each volume contains entries for around 150 titles, within the age group, arranged by theme such as Easy Readers, Adventure and Humorous.

From Booklist:

Part of the series Choosing Your Children's Books, this briefly annotated listing of 150 fiction titles is mainly for parents who want a simple guide for a relatively narrow age range. Arranged by subject and genre--from adventure and animals, to classics, mystery, and sport--each section has about 10 to 12 titles, with a brief general introduction and an occasional illustration from one of the books. There's lots by Blume, Naylor, Dahl, Lowry, and other middle-grade favorites, and the snappy annotations get the spirit of each book. This doesn't pretend to be a substitute for the comprehensive guides listed in the bibliography, but it's a good start for parents just beginning to get to know the riches of children's books.
