About this title

Synopsis:

The beloved Christmas classic by Charles Dickens comes to life with exquisite fine-art paintings from award-winning artist J. Kirk Richards. The journey of Ebenezer Scrooge is illustrated with scenes depicting the midnight visits of the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Yet to Come. The accompanying abridged text tells the story of Scrooge s earlier years, introduces us to Tiny Tim and the Cratchit family, and follows Scrooge as he considers what the future may hold for him. Let the story of A Christmas Carol and its symbolic messages of love, change, and redemption touch your life this Christmas season. From the acclaimed illustrator of The Nativity, this handsome illustrated edition is sure to be a family favorite for years to come.

About the Author:

Charles Dickens (1812-1870) is generally regarded as the greatest English novelist of the Victorian period. The author of many noted works, including David Copperfield, The Adventures of Oliver Twist, A Tale of Two Cities, and Great Expectations, Dickens has remained popular with readers for more than 150 years. His novels are praised by critics and scholars alike, and 2012 marks the 200th anniversary of his birth.

Figurative artist J. Kirk Richards is known for his accomplishments as a painter of Judeo-Christian subject matter. While not all of his work is overtly religious, the majority of his themes stem from spiritual ideas and narratives. His paintings exhibit a love for the human figure, use of symbolism, and an emphasis on lyric composition. His original paintings can be found in private and public collections across the country.
