A fine, handsomely bound, complete in 2-volumes 1839 first edition in this form. Translated from he French editions, with variations and additions from many celebrated MSS, by Thomas Joines, to which are prefixed a life of the author, an essay on his works, and a criticism on his history. It covers the period 1322 to 1400 and describes conditions which led to the Hundred Years War and the first 50 tears of the conflict. The half leather bindings, with gilt titles, decoration and raised b ands on the spines, and marbled boards, are in unusually fine, tight, clean condition, Negligible, very light foxing of a few pages. The texts are in fine, tight, clean condition. Coloured frontispiece (lightly foxed) in volume one. Many woodcuts in the texts. All page edges marbled. Pagination XlV11, 768; X1V, 733.
