Publisher: The Society of American Bacteriologists, Baltimore
Publication Date: 1950
Edition: 1st Edition
8vo. Black cloth spine and maroon paper over boards. 83pp. Illustrations. Very good. Slightest bit of faint wear. A tight and attractive first edition with a choice presentation inscription from one noted Baltimore medical figure to another: The front flyleaf bears a large, bold inscription in blue fountain pen: "To Dr. Huntington Williams / with sincere appreciation of / his friendly and helpful / guidance down the road of / life. / Clinton L. Ewing / May 18, 1950." Ewing was an important Maryland health official, head of the Baltimore City Health Department and the person who in 1935 succeeded in creating the Baltimore branch of the Society of American Bacteriologists. George Huntington Williams (1892-1992) served as director of the Baltimore City Health Department, commissioner of that same department (1933-62) and professor of hygiene and public health at both the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University. A superb association copy. Bookseller Inventory # 33635
