Original movie script for 1931 Academy Award winning movie (Best Movie, Best Screenplay plus four other nominations) in two parts, starring Richard Dix and Irene Dunn. The story, based on the novel by Edna Ferber, deals with a restless newspaper editor/lawyer and his wife who settle in the Oklahoma territory. Each part in toned yellow studio wraps with RKO Studios, Inc., Production No. 507, Cimarron, and Final Script on front covers. Each part bound with three brads. Part One has Sequences A-B-C-D, dated August 20. 1930, and contains a digest of the screen story, an analysis and listing of all characters. 161 mimeographed sheets including a brief summary before each sequence. The name "Julian" is handwritten on the cover. Part Two has Sequences E-F-G-H-I, dated August 21, 1930, contains the remaining sheets to total 324, including a brief summary of each sequence. "Mr. Estabrook" (screenwriter) is written on the cover, then crossed out, and "Julian" written under it. Mimeographed revision pages are scattered throughout both parts, including a correction to the last scene. Some pencil notations are also scattered throughout.
