Hardcover: H 24.25cm x L 19.5cm. Blue cloth scrapbook album, boards rubbed and soiled, some dulling to silver stamping upon front board, spine ends well frayed with some cloth loss, 8cm splitting ascending from heel of front joint, board corners worn. Front and rear hinges splitting. Leaves toned, soiled, and foxed. Unpaged; approximately 34 leaves (several loose) all with multi-colored Victorian-era calling cards, business cards, and/or assorted clippings compiled by Miss Ola L. Johnson, a resident of Columbus (Lowndes County), Mississippi and Reform (Pickens County), Alabama. Many cards/clippings are firmly glued to leaf rectos and versos whereas a minority are detached and laid-in or, in some instances, are missing with a glue and paper remnant indicating their one-time inclusion. Features a Christmas greeting card from Rome Business University, Rome, Georgia; several trade cards for Clark's Spool Cotton as well as Kerr's Spool Cotton; a lock of hair; a terrific colorful sunfish card for The Rasin Fertilizer Company - Baltimore; etc. Many of the calling cards have images of outstretched or clasped hands which are hinged to reveal a name underneath; two particularly elaborate cards have lace decoration and poems.
