About this title

Synopsis:

(English version of La Cite des intelligences, published first time in 1998) Recognized for her leadership in communications and creativity, Sylvie Gendreau has initiated revolutionary projects based on vanguard ideas in the organization of work and the use of information technologies. In this book, she proposes an original process based on her years of experience in Canada and the United States, as well as her personal reflections. In City of Dreams, the author encourages us to develop our psychic powers of desire. She focuses on imagination, something we all have, to set out in conquest of ourselves and to develop our emotional and rational intelligences. She urges us to create a collective imagination to enrich our lives and society as a whole. In City of Freedom, she re-envisions Socrates idea of a workplace, advocating places that are free, full of rhythm and inspiration, places we design and never stop reinventing in order to turn our companies into evolved democracies in which each actor becomes a creator. In City of Games, she asks companies to take inspiration from the philosophy of games to bring about change without upheaval, and to transform the work space into a place of self fulfillment for all. In City of Intelligences, she tells the story of a company in which women and men joined their imaginations and intelligence to bring a shared dream into the real world. She presents a concrete application of her method and shows us it s possible to reinvent communications networks, thanks to a humanist culture and the use of multimedia. Because Sylvie Gendreau believes in the urgency of creating collective leadership, her examples inspire us to act.
