Synopsis: In addition to blade designs that were seen at such battlefields as Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Antietam, Chancellorsville and Bull Run, this remarkable book delves into the individuals who carried these knives. It also discusses American and British cutlers and examines knife designs and what factors influenced their makers. Hundreds of excellent photos show unusual, rare and common examples of Civil War knives.
About the Author: Noted historian and author Marc Newman, whose articles on history have appeared in such publications as Knives '97, Military Technical Journal, and Civil War, has been a student of history for 40 years. A member of The Company of Military Historians, Newman received his bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees from American University and the State University of New York at Albany, respectively, and is currently working on his doctorate.
