About this title

Synopsis:

This is the first comprehensive examination of all civil uses of space, affecting international security. The book presents an original segregation of international security into six components, including military, political, economic, scientific and technical, socio-cultural, and environmental elements. The project describes modern astronautical technologies in generic and specific uses, and assesses the implications of these civil uses of outer space in each of the six components of national security. The work proposes and describes a new world space regulatory organisation, and presents numerous project conclusions, as well as texts of the five major UN treaties relating to activities in outer space, and four major UN Declarations of Principles relating to activities m outer space, including satellite broadcasting, remote sensing, the use of nuclear power sources in space, and the general principles that were precursors to the Outer Space Treaty of 1967.
