About this Item

[112 p.], paper, horizontal octavo (6" x 8 1/2"). This is the first annual published by the this Swedish Lutheran college and theological seminary, although it had been established some decades earlier. It includes a section on Rock Island in which the college is located. Fine photographs of the twenty-nine graduating seniors (three of them are women; group photos of clubs, societies, sports teams, board of directors; photos of buildings, environs, faculty members, etc. Includes lists of student and college officers, members of the yearbook staff, and others. The book includes a memorial for the college president, Olof Olsson, who died in May, 1900. The last eighteen pages contain very interesting advertisements for such firms as The Rock Island House (a hotel), Rock Island Plow Company, and the Lutheran Augustana Book Concern, all in Rock Island; a carriage factory, a lumber company, an engraving firm, Barnard & Leas Manufacturing Company (flour mills, elevators), Deere & Mansur ("largest manufacturer of cornplanters in the world"), an organ factory, Moline Wagon Company, Deere & Co. Moline Plow Works, all in Moline; a few others from Chicago and Davenport, Iowa. Tear at top of spine (mended with clear acid-free tape), water mark on first two pages, pages separating at center of book (repaired), over all very good. Bookseller Inventory # 73978SC
