About this Item

The first issue of Classical America, a journal devoted to the classical tradition in American art, especially architecture. Laid into this copy is a typed letter signed by Henry Hope Reed sending this copy to an administrator at the Library of Congress. Reed was a founder of this magazine, a member of its Board of Directors, a contributor to this first issue, and wrote the opening rationale for this journal in its first pages, "An Explanation," and a essay, "Classical New York: The Story City Planning in New York".
