Synopsis

Color, line, shape, and subject influence the view of the beholder. In turn, the beholder influences the view offered via personal experience and wishful thoughts.

Close Up exaggerates my own personal impressions and expressions of the internal landscape of a room. Although Close Up may have different consequences for others, for me it contains the warmth and comfort of familiar objects.

At the same time, Close Up transforms these objects into visual giants seeking to overpower the surrounding space.

About the Author

Art is my first love. It inspired me to win the Wanamaker Medal in a New York City-wide painting competition when I was in nursery school. Later, I had exhibitions in gouache and oil paintings and pen-and-ink drawings in New York and New Jersey.

More than 500 of my works in various media are in private and public collections, including Special Collections at Hunter College (CUNY); School of Business at The College of New Jersey; Chemistry Department at Brooklyn College (CUNY); Art Students League, New York; and in the artists' file at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), New York.

Moses Soyer at Brooklyn Museum and Harry Sternberg at Art Students League were among my teachers. I was Associate Director of Key Gallery, 57th Street, New York, for five years. I am a life member of the Art Students League.
