Publishers ribbed green cloth, front cover decoratively stamped in gilt, spine lettered in gilt, top edge gilt, others uncut. A few leaves roughly opened on fore-edge. Otherwise a very fine copy in the very scarce original pale green printed dust jacket. The top 3/4 inch of the jacket spine is missing and there are a few short tears on the extremities, but overall this very rare dust jacket is in very good condition.Illustrator Jessie Willcox Smith was one of the most acclaimed of Howard Pyle's students. She became an accomplished child-portraitist and can be counted among "the most popular and best-known artists in America" (Dalby, 38).In the Closed Room is a short story about a shy, quiet little girl (Judith) living in a big city.
