About this Item

Large Octavo. 463p. index of subjects, persons. Map of New Jersey. Illustrations. Guide to the Writing of American Military, IV, 210ff. Besides providing extensive quotations from contemporary sources, he has traced aspects of the American Revolution in New Jersey that had previously been neglected. His assessment of General Howe's failure to crippled the "ragtag army" shows that Howe underestimated the level of commitment that existed among the army and George Washington's amazing resourcefulness in facing each threat. An essential work for understanding both the resolve of Washington's leadership and the despicable failure of the Continental Congress or even the residents of New Jersey to provide significant help. A scarce item in near fine condition without marks or previous signs of ownership. A very nice dust jacket with some tiny chipping. Bookseller Inventory # 018371
