Book Description Farrar, Straus and Giroux, New York, 1990. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: fine. Book Club. Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1990. Very Good. Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1990. Very Good. Larkin (1922-1985) was one of the most important British poets of the latter half of the twentieth century; his poetry has been called "a mixture of lyricism and discontent." As Anthony Thwaite mentions in his introduction, "Taken together, (these) poems show the growth of a great poet (1922-1985), testing, filtering, rejecting, modulating, achieving." The sale volume is a later printing, possibly some type of book club based on the fact that there is no price on the jacket. Copyright page lists the first edition in 1988 and 1989, plus the first American edition in 1990. Green paper boards with gold lettering on black block on spine only. No marking inside or out; minor bumping at top and bottom of spine. Dust jacket has not been clipped but carries no price so may be a book club. Jacket is bright and clean but has a small repaired tear at top of front board. 330 pages including index. Seller Inventory # 003403
