About the Author

Thomas Stearns Eliot was born in St Louis, Missouri, in 1888. He settled in England in 1915 and published his first book of poems in 1917. He received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948. Eliot died in 1965.

Archie Burnett is co-director of the Editorial Institute and Professor of English at Boston University. He has edited the scholarly editions of The Poems of A. E. Housman (1997) and The Letters of A. E. Housman (2007), and Philip Larkin: The Complete Poems (2012).
