120pp extract, printed in double columns, illustrated with numerous drawings and sketched by the author, including several facsimile letters and notes in autograph, and additional excerpts in autograph, salvaged from damaged issues of Scribner's Magazine, Volume I, Nos. 4 - 6, April - June, 1887, and Volume II, Nos. 1 - 4, July - October, 1887. Includes the years 1849 - 1853. Illustrations include a full-page plate of the statuette of Thackeray by Joseph Edgar Boehm, a profile from the statuette, a view of Clevedon Church, the memorial tablets to Arthur and Henry Hallam, a portrait of an elderly Thackeray seated at a table, and various sketches from the author.
