True first British printing of this edition. First thus. No jacket as issued. Publisher's original special variant brown leather binding. Large format. Illustrated by Arthur Rackham. All twelve colour plates are present and in very good condition. One of the twelve tissue guards is missing. Brown leather boards with gold lettering and embossed design are near fine with very minor pushing/bumping to corners, the odd small scratch to spine (not major), a hint of patchy rubbing to edges and a little pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine (not major). Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Pictorial end-papers are slightly tanned. Page edges are a little tanned. Top of pages gilt. Few spots of foxing to page edges. Neat gift inscription (dated 1944) in pen to half title page. Very occasional small marks to a few pages. No other faults. All in all a lovely example of this classic title. The only 'major' fault is the one missing tissue guard. Beautiful Arthur Rackham colour and black and white illustrations. All books described honestly and accurately. Paypal accepted.
