Synopsis: A resounding response to the environmental devastation and hardships-of-youth going on all over the world. Communal home designs are the last lines in the sand left to draw!
About the Author: Chris Eldridge earned an Associates Degree in mainframe computer programming at the Harrisburg Area Community College in 1997 and went on into a seven-year career in this field. Professional life never satisfied Chris, however. The activism instilled in him as a teen runaway and homeless person meant that he spent his personal time working for humanitarian and environmental progress: petitioning and protesting in every way he knew how. His first book, Conceptual Communal Home Design, aptly demonstrated a new and painstaking analytical approach to this on-and-off-again way of living. His highly functional floor plans (developed over 19 years) systematically achieve a far higher quality of living for residents, while reducing land consumption by 60% to 95%. The former governor of California, mayor Jerry Brown, commended Chris for advocating such land-conscious designs. Chris' second book, Environmental Practices, documents the many things he learned about caring for the environment on a personal level, as well as how high technology has helped everything from oil tankers to jumbo-jet airliners become more environmentally friendly. This heavily revised book - now in its seventh edition - also contains his latest communal home designs and a chapter on emergency preparedness. In recognition of his second book, senator Ted Kennedy (D-Mass) stated, Environmental Practices offers creative ways, designs, and technology to protect and improve the state of our environment; and I commend you for your comprehensive work. and even forwarded his emergency preparedness recommendations on to the Department of Homeland Security. Apart from his passion for designing, writing, science, history, and scrap-booking, Chris trained for eight years in the martial arts and for a few years in Tai Chi and yoga. He studied Buddhism and Native American skills and has designed and sewn highly detailed outdoor clothing for himself for 20 years.
