First edition, sans jacket, of Volume VII in the outstanding "History of the South" series. Nice association copy, both the front and rear pastedowns bearing the huge ownership signature in blue ink of Robert Royal Russel (b. 1890), author of such relevant titles as "The Economic History of Negro Slavery in the United States," "Economic Aspects of Southern Sectionalism, 1840-1861," "Antebellum Studies in Slavery, Politics, and the Railroads" and others.
