About this Item

Printed wraps. 32 pp. A brief study of the life of Confucius, his teachings and beliefs, as well as a description of China and its history. Written in a sympathetic tone and seemingly in an effort to provide a positive view of the country of China (from the vantage of the United States). Jones uses Confucius' philosophies on law and government to demonstrate China's contributions to the world, as well as mentioning its industry and dispelling misconceptions of Chinese culture as misconstrued in San Francisco and other places. Jones also alludes to US imperialism in regard to China. Jenkin Lloyd Jones was a leader of the All Souls Unitarian Church in Chicago, as well as an ardent pacifist. FAIR condition. Text block DETACHED from the wrappers. Wrappers split and torn along the spine, with a few minor tears along the extremities. General browning and minor soiling. Rear cover with some dark scuffs.
