About this Item

Entire issue, April, 1955, in original printed pictorial wraps, light general wear. Article is 6-pages and includes a portrait of the subject, and a full-page photograph of the author standing alongside a landed marlin. From the opening paragraph, "The old Maestro leaned on the end of the long Cafe Floridita bar, pulling at an eight-ounce frozen daiquiri. I sat two stools away and broached the conversation. Some three hours later, Hemingway had stowed away seven more of these man-sized daiquiris, and when he strolled out of that cool saloon into the tropic heat of Havana at midday he carried an eighth drink with him. By that time we had raked several matters over the coals, among them how he came to write The Old Man And The Sea, the book which won him 1954's Nobel Prize." This is volume I, No. 1 of the magazine. Very scarce. Bookseller Inventory # 018854
