Synopsis: The purpose of this book is to give the beginning and intermediate guitarist a method of general studies and techniques which will allow steady mental and physical growth towards musicianship.
There are few methods written specifically for the contemporary Christian guitarist. Hopefully, this book will fulfill that need.
The studies have been developed over the past 20 years of teaching private lessons and classes at various colleges. The book cover topics such as: finger style, pick style, chord strumming and note reading. Familiar songs have been chosen which will provide a foundation for many years of enjoyable time with the guitar.
A demonstration CD is included with the book. The CD includes selected exercises, choruses and hymns and provides accompaniment for all the duets found in the book. Solo guitar arrangements have been given and are also played on the CD,
About the Author: Michael Davis plays solo 7 string guitar, specializing in finger style jazz, pop, classical and original music. He writes music in jazz, classical, samba and bossa nova styles, has written for cable television and recorded several albums. Some of his arrangements from the Christmas CD, Snowfall (with the Timeless Quartet) have been published by Lorenz Music.
Michael is a player/teacher based in Portland, Oregon. He started the guitar program at Multnomah Bible College in Portland in the early 1980's. Currently he teaches guitar classes and private lessons at Multnomah and Warner Pacific College and also teaches private lessons at his home studio.
