Personally acquainted with many of key figures in the movements he discusses, the author is uniquely qualified to provide insight into his topic. He has a clear, pragmatic vision of what must be done to make the Philippines a pluralistic nation where Muslis and Christians share power and economic opportunity and respect each others' history and traditions. Carefully researched and thought out, complete with footnotes and bibliography, this work is equally valuable to scholars and concerned lay readers.
