About this title

Synopsis:

San Francisco's foremost cooking teacher, Jack Lirio (b. 1928), reveals the secrets and techniques of his greatest recipes in this 1982 hardbound edition of Cooking with Jack Lirio. The 276 page book features recipes of his favorites, described down to the last detail, and tells how to re-create those he loves so much. Throughout, the emphasis is on easy-to-digest, colorful food with simple, clean flavors, pleasing to both the eye and palate. Lirio opened the school on Monterey Blvd. in San Francisco in 1969. By the early 70's, everyone wanted to take classes from Jack. Over the years, many of those who are now luminaries in the Bay Area food scene -- Alice Waters, Alice Medrich, Lindsey Shere, Narsai David, among others -- took a class or two. Lirio traveled the country guest teaching at cooking schools and appearing on many national television and radio shows.
