Written and illustrated by Harry A. Wilmer, B.S., M.S., M.B., M.D., Ph.D., in Pathology. Introduction by Paul O'Leary, M.D. Forewords by Joseph Earle Moore, M.D. and Kendall Emerson, M.D. Wilmer was on the faculty of Johns Hopkins. (X)67pp. The story of Corky, the syphilis spirochete, and his invasion, bringing devastation to various parts of the body, including the eyes of a newborn, is told through a suspenseful narrative and a series of amusing drawings. Corky is finslly vanquished by soap and water, but not until he has done untold damage. The white blood cells are the FBI (Foreign Body Investigators) in the tale. Fine in red cloth, with endpapers maps of Corky's path through the body. Dust jacket is chipped, and nearly complete, but split along the spine, and held together with a Brodart overjacket.
