About this Item
Bound in blue cloth, with a dustjacket. James Boswell (1740-1795) was a prolific diarist and writer, best known for his association with Samuel Johnson, which lead to him becoming Johnson's most famous biographer. John Johnston was one of Boswell's closest friends and this correspondence shows him at his best, unreserved, unaffected and affectionate. This edition is volume one in the series Boswell's Correspondence by Yale University Press but is complete in itself. In a blue cloth binding in the original dustwrapper. The binding is tight and firm with the boards and all internal pages securely attached. The extremities show little wear and the internal pages are generally clean and bright with only an ink inscription on the front endpaper and a small personalised bookplate. The dustjacket has a few grubby marks otherwise it is in excellent condition. Fine. Seller Inventory # MOD1-E-17
