Striking pochoir fashion plate by French illustrator George Barbier, whose sleek and stylized line defined Art Deco. Barbier's witty depictions of modern dress found an enthusiastic audience in the pages of the Journal des Dames et des Modes, Gazette du Bon Ton and Vogue. This 1913 plate is captioned: "Robe de taffetas gris à col et manchettes de linon et gilet de satin à boutons d'émail." The model makes eye contact with the reader as she prepares (perhaps?) to drop one of her yellow gloves. A fine survival. Original color pochoir print, sheet measuring 8.75 by 5.5 inches, watermarked "Journal des Dames.". Bookseller Inventory #
