Slight fading to the spine and small (1/4 inch) spot stain to the top of the last 40 pages. Marion Harland (1830-1922) was among the most famous of American women writing over 75 books, both novels and domestic advice, along with countless articles in magazines and newspaper columns. Her most famous work was COMMON SENSE IN THE HOUSEHOLD (1871) which sold over a million copies. This present work was written with the aid of her daughter. The work covers: beverages, bread, cake, custards, eggs, fish, james & jellies, meats, muffins, porridges, poultry, salads, doughs and vegetables.
