The history of the town of Pitman, located in Gloucester County southern New Jersey, some 17 miles southeast of Philadelphia. Pitman was a product of the camp meeting movement that swept through southern and eastern Jersey beginning in the 1820s and got it's name from Charles Pitman, a prominent preacher of the time. Pitman Camp opened in 1870 and the borough was incorporated in 1905. Tight, near fine example. Issued without dust jacket. Bookseller Inventory # E8118
