Number 542 of 1500 copies signed by the illustrator, Sylvain Sauvage. Introduction by A. S. W. Rosenbach. Sylvestre Bonnard is happy and satisfied living among his books and reading every day. Things begin to change when he becomes acquainted with a young girl living in a boarding school. She manages to makes an impression on this reclusive elderly man by offering a life outside of his books.
