About the Author: Ed Hass was born and raised in New Jersey, but has lived in California since 1981. His father, Bill Hass, was a well-known historian and photographer of fre apparatus, so Ed grew up around the fire service. Ed followed in his father's footsteps as a fire apparatus historian and photographer, taking it one step further to become an author and publisher of fire apparatus magazines and books. Ed even published his dad's 424-page book, History of the Ameican Water Towers (1989). Ed's primary career (since 1982) has been and still is as a Technical Writer of "how to" manuals for computer and electronics hardware and software products.
