A better than good first edition of Harold H. Stanners's third and final mystery, featuring Professor Harding, an American law school professor and amateur sleuth. Green cloth boards show some age darkening, as does the top of the pageblock; corners and spine ends curling inward, some foxing to endpapers but interior bright. As the local gentry, their servants and country folk variously celebrate the coronation of King George VI, two deaths occur in an English village. Interesting portrait of society, class, manners (including drinking songs!) and respect for the law as King George VI ascended the throne. Quite scarce. Bookseller Inventory #
