Book Description Upton Sinclair, Pasadena, 1921. Soft Cover. Book Condition: Very Good. This collection of writings and social protest art, edited by Upton Sinclair, was originally published by John C. Winston in 1915. This 1921 soft cover was published by Sinclair himself, after Dr. John R. Haynes kindly purchased the copyright and printing plates from Winston. Sinclair wished to dedicate the book to Dr. Haynes but Haynes preferred it be dedicated to "those unknown ones, who by their dimes and quarters keep the Socialist movement going." The book was published to look drab, befitting its function. Bound in a grayish brown paper cover, simply printed in black; text printed on a brownish paper (it looks toned but actually is not; only slightly yellowing along edges). A VERY GOOD copy, internally near fine, pages clean, totally unmarked. Binding firm and intact - no splits or cracks. The cover is worn; front cover torn along spine and only fragilely attached; edges lightly rubbed and worn; the spine creased with slight remains of a paper label on the spine. Dozens of writings by philosophers, poets, novelists, social reformers of the last 5,000 years. 37 B&W illustrations. 4-3/4 x 7"; 891 pages Size: 8vo. Bookseller Inventory # 003927
