From the Author: My career path with horses has been varied and wonderful. I have followed my many passions as I've woven them into a rather unique combination of riding, showing, teaching, writing, and exploring how to reach peak performance. What excites me most about teaching others is when someone comes to know-not to try to convince themselves-that they really can do whatever it is they desire. I love seeing the light bulb of understanding and knowing come on! You can never replicate an action consistently until you understand the "why" of what you're trying to do! Once you understand, the intent and approach must be to develop confidence and calmness-instead of fear and quick fixes. If you don't, you will never be consistently successful over time. It is my sincere desire that this book become your personal resource guide and that it helps you understand, really understand...so you can build your confidence, focus on the task at hand, and enjoy riding. There is no real destination where you finally arrive and have nowhere else to go. Have fun and learn each time you ride. Enjoy your horse beyond the show arena and all of the wonderful people in our sport. I wish you a lifetime of fun and harmony within yourself and with your horse as you continue to learn. Always, always, believe in yourself.
