About this Item
"For over twenty years, Victor Kennedy has proved, through consistent campaigning for the works of other Australian writers, a progressive force in our developing literature. As a critic, and as a popular speaker at literary societies, he ha won a high reputation for keen insight and sane judgments. He has kept his own creative work in the background, yet occasional newspaper and magazine publication has shown him to be a gifted short story writer and by no means a negligible poet. He has, indeed, had three slim books of verse published in small editions, but presentation of his works in more solid form has long been overdue. Jindyworobak, for which Kennedy has worked unselfishly for ten years, has now prevailed upon him to offer, in this volume, his own selection of his verse written over the years. Here will be discovered a gathering of poems which ought not to be lost, and some of which appear, in originality and beauty, destined to endure." --- Undated. 1949. --- Kennedy: (1895-1952) born in Bendigo, Victoria, worked for newspapers across Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales. --- Original brown boards, lettered black no spine and top cover (21.2 cm height).
