About this Item

"Four decades ago the late Allen Armitage's MODAL RAILROADER {SIC} articles on building models of strene opened my eyes to, this wonderful medium. Iv'e been a disciple ever since and long before the present Plastruct association shamelessly trumpeted the wonderful possibilities. Applying common sense the modeler simply can't go wrong. I smile when I recall that not too many years ago one of my clinics included instructions how to make structural shapes from strip stock. We've come a long way. Today Plastruct alone catalogs more than 3500 items. In the early sixties, Arvid Johnson, an ebullient Minnesotan, was the first source of sheet styrene for many of us. A 5" x 7" brown envelope with several thickness of sheert and a few strips. The price? It didn't matter. The hook was set. This cyclopedia is an expansion and my interpretation of Al's ideas covering numerous subjects. They range from the very simple to some esoteric stuff, but even the complex broken down into components remain simple-there is just more work. I've added different thoughts on techniques we've all used for years, with a few of the author's favorites, unusual approaches in the use of familiar products and exploration of new sources. Let's call that R & D." This book has 90 pages and is profusely illustrated. This copy is NUMBER 155 of a LIMITED EDITION. Overall, this is a FINE copy of this VERY SCARCE title.
