About this title

Limited edition of 300 copies. Each book is numbered, personally signed by Darcy Bussell and comes covered in a cloth case. This book celebrates the career of Darcey Bussell, one of the greatest English ballerinas of all time. Accompanied by stunning images from some of today's leading photographers such as Mario Testino, Lord Snowdon, Patrick Demarchelier and Mary McCartney, Darcey Bussell chronicles Darcey from her early years through to her final performance. Along with images of her on stage and in costume, there are intimate behind-the scenes photos of rehearsals and preparation. Darcey provides a fascinating insight into the ballet world, with personal anecdotes and memories of some of the most important moments in her career. It features her now famous performances in ballets such as Swan Lake, Cinderella, Giselle, Manon, The Nutcracker and The Sleeping Beauty. A must for lovers of ballet and dance, as well as being a beautiful book to own and treasure.

About the Author:

In a career spanning more than 20 years, Darcey Bussell achieved legendary status in the dance world and earned a place in the hearts of the British public. In 1985 at the age of 16, she was accepted at the Royal Ballet's National School in London, graduating to Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet two years later. In 1989 she became the youngest ever British ballerina to be given the honour of Principal dancer, and her career continued to grow. She was created an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1995 and then a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2006. In 2006 Darcey announced her retirement with her final performance of MacMillan's Song of the Earth in June of the following year.
