Green silk binding with elaborate raised and embossed gilt decoration surrounding titles, gilt wreath and acorns, titles to spine, top edge gilt, blindstamp clover to rear board, untrimmed page sides. Stamp inside front board indicates this book to be the gift of Mrs. S. L. (Seth Low) Pierrepont, a prominent resident of Ridgefield Connecticut (this book being from that library). Mrs. Pierrepont was a turn-of-the-century socialite and philanthopist. 410 pp., 2 pp. advertising, frontispiece illustration, with 8 additional black and white plates, elaborate decorations, occasional in-text black and white illustrations by C. D. Farrand. Spine sunned with narrow band left from library marking, occasional scuffs, library stamps inside book, one of which attributes the donation.
