About this title

The work of seventy-five photographers provides a comprehensive profile of Hollywood, following a young actress at an audition, the power elite at restaurants, special effects people, celebrities, and others. 100,000 first printing. Lit Guild.

From Library Journal:

"Lavish" cannot begin to describe this new addition to the "Day in the Life" photographic series. The book boasts the work of 75 acclaimed photographers, who shot their unique views of Hollywood's many faces during one 24-hour period. The result is an oversized, colorful, and visually magnetic volume. Candid looks at stars, behind-the-scenes staff, and local characters are interspersed with movie sets, graveyards, landscapes, props/special effects, and the like. There are several essays and excerpts from interviews with studio executives. A bit more text would have enhanced the overall balance and informational appeal of the book. However, the captions are knowledgeable, witty, and substantial in content. Recommended for popular collections, especially since patrons may have seen the one-hour documentary on the book, which aired on Showtime during December.
