8vo in green cloth with black titles, 834pp. Shaken and slightly loose binding (heavy book), but otherwise Very Good. One of 300 copies printed and distributed by Toland's estate in 1970 to people named in his will. E D Toland (1886-1964), was headmaster of St Paul's School in Concord NH from 1916-1917 and 1919-1945, also drove an ambulance in WWI about which he wrote " The aftermath of battle; with the Red cross in France" MacMillan 1916. This copy was presented by Toland to a former student when was the US Ambassador to Cuba and Bolivia in the 1950s and 60s, and contains several letters from Toland and a photo of him and Mrs Toland. Laid is a letter from The Toland Estate, indicating recipient was named in Toland's will to receive one of 300 copies of his printed diary. A few advance copies were given to "trusted friends" whose printed testimonials are attached to the Estate letter. Author was Rector of St. Paul's School in New Hampshire and was also head of the history department. His book recounts his experiences and critique of the school. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Tall.
