About this Item

First edition. Offprint from June 1937 issue of Survey Graphic magazine. Buck's -page essay is an eloquent expression of shock and disgust at the treatment of blacks and other immigrants in her native America; and at the hatred she heard expressed by people she encountered for those they considered "others" -- no matter their own family's origins. We wish we too were able to be shocked. Instead we're disgusted to find ourselves in our native America where blacks are dying at disproportionate rates to whites in encounters with police and just a short while ago separating children from parents at the border was policy. Very good with light damp stain to lower right corner (throughout) and soft vertical crease. Bookseller Inventory # 41797
