About this Item

hardcover, 5¾" x 8¾", with dust jacket David Magarshack has translated and collected together these hitherto unpublished essays, sketches and letters on social, political and literary affairs. The book opens with articles written by Dostoevsky in 1847, before he was sent to Siberia, and as Mr Magarshack says, they "not only express Dostoevsky's state of mind at that difficult time, but also the ideas that were to occupy him for the rest of his life." The articles he wrote on his return from exile are in effect manifestoes of the utmost importance for an understanding of Dostoevsky's political and social ideas. Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, barcode etc. GOOD book in GOOD unclipped dust jacket 334 pages. Bookseller Inventory # 36357
