FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING, FIRST STATE: with one blank leaf at the back of the book with no advertisement, WITHOUT the ad for the Shoulder of Shasta, WITHOUT any terminal catalogue; and printed on thicker stock with uncut page edges. Early printings of Dracula come in various states. Copies with a blank final text leaf and no pages of adverts are considered the earliest as all copies. (Please note that Richard Dalby, in his 1983 bibliography of Stoker, states that ¿later issues of the first edition carry an advertisement for The Shoulder of Shasta on the rear flyleaf ¿ and that the ¿publishers cannot confirm any other points regarding status of the first issue, nor the exact publishing date.¿) Thus the copies with Shoulder Of Shasta ad only, or with a terminal catalogue would be considered a second or later printing, and the books containing both the Shoulder Of Shasta ad in addition to a terminal catalogue to the rear of the book are third printings or later. To any extent All of these variations are considered reprints of the first edition, first printing. A very good copy of this scarce, highly collectible title. Rebacked, preserving the original cloth spine which was fully present but is soiled and faded. The boards otherwise have some fading/age toning and a few spots of discoloration to the covers. All pages present and are overall clean with the common scattered foxing, and handling marks. Original end papers present, but with the front fly leaf paper absent and with a small tear to the rear paste down. The binding is tight and square and the reback has made the book quite sound and not fragile (and therefore even readable!). Scripted owner names to the front end paper. Please see images for details. A great copy of this landmark book in the scarce original boards and in the true first state, at a great price for this title.
