"Dunlap and Claypoole's American Daily Advertiser" was originally founded in Philadelphia in 1771 by John Dunlap under the name of "The Pennsylvania Packet or the General Advertiser." Claypoole became associated with its publication in the late 1770s. The newspaper underwent several name changes and became "Dunlap and Claypoole's American Daily Advertiser" in 1794.
